Royal Heritage

the King's Wine

Catherine and Isabelle operate the family estate by combining tradition and innovation. Like a work of goldsmith or haute couture,
The Merlots are planted on deep clays which have the same formation as the clays of Pomerol

The Cabernets on poorer and more calcareous soils as for the Tannat and Abouriou, they are on very poor very calcareous soils and very exposed at the top of the hills to obtain their maturation;

TECHNICAL DATA

  • The Royal Heritage is produced on 3 hectares of vines

  • The average age of the vines is 40 years

  • The density is 5000 vines / hectare

  • The average output is 45H /H

  • These plots are entirely worked by horse or mechanically and without herbicides.

  • The harvest is manual,

  • Fermentation takes place in cement vats,

  • The fermentation temperature is controlled at 28°

  • The vatting period is approximately 15 days

  • Malolactic fermentation in 600 liter barrels

  • Aged in new wood for 12 months

    TASTING CHARACTERISTICS

    • Tasting at 18° temperature after two hours of oxygenation.

LE PRINCE

The Prince 

by Royal Heritage

The estate of Jean Orliac has never stopped producing wine but in 2011 the area was classified AOC (Appelation d’Origine Controlée is the highest French wine classification. It indicates that the wine meets strict requirements regarding the vine yard, the grapes, the method of production and the alcoholic strength). The estate in 2010 5 hectares of vines of 5 years old

SOME TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Grape varieties of vines 5 years old • 40% merlot / 40% Cabernet franc / nat

  • The average yield is 55 Hectos /H

  • The parcels of land are worked mechani-

    cally with no weed killes

  • The harvest is done by hand

  • The fermentation is in cement vats

  • The temperature of fermentation is

    controlled 28°c

  • The length of time in the vat is about 15

    days

  • Malolactic fermentation in oak barrels

    of 600 liters
    • Matured in half barrels, one wine, two wines

    and three wines during 12 months

    TASTING NOTES

  • Color is deep ruby or Crimson.

  • The nose: dark fruits, BlackBerry, blue-

    berry and plum.

  • Spicy notes of vanilla and chocolate.

  • Drink at 18°c after 2 hours breathing time.

    Catherine and Isabelle Orliac, successors of Jean Orliac who was wine supplier of the King of France, authenticate their wine by giving each bottle a unique bubble code and ID. They are shown in a seal on the neck of the bottle. They cannot be detached without being damaged.

Château Labastide-Orliac

The vines of Château Labastide Orliac are three years old and are giving their first harvests. These vines in full development whose roots are still
in the surface layers, make it a fluid wine, on the fruit, to drink young. The grape varieties and vini cations followed are the same as Royal Héritage and Le Prince.

TECHNICAL DATA

  • Grape varieties of Château Labastide Orliac: Merlot 40% Cabernet Franc 40% Tannat 20%

  • The density is 5000 feet /H

  • The average output is 55H/H

  • The plots are worked mechanically and without herbicides

  • The harvest is manual

  • Fermentation takes place in cement tanks

  • Fermentation temperatures controlled at 28°

  • Duration of vatting approximately 15 days

  • Maloactic fermentation in tank

  • Bottled after 2 years.

    TASTING CHARACTERISTICS

    • Tasting Deep red color
    • Nose of red and black fruits currant blackcurrant prune
    • Supple and discreet tannins
    • To be tasted at 18° after oxygenation on white or red meats

Chateau Labastide Orliac

2 sisters in Aquitaine

This wine comes from young vines planted on north-facing hillsides in order to better control the sunshine and avoid having too high an alcohol percentage during vinification.

• Grape varieties: 50% Merlot • 35% Cabernet Franc • 15% Tannat • Planting density: 4000 vines / Hectares
• Yield: 55 hectoliters per hectare
• Vines worked mechanically without herbicide

• Mechanical harvesting
• Fermentation in cement vats
• Bottled in October 2014

 

TASTING CHARACTERISTICS

• Beautiful purple red color
• On the nose, a slightly spicy red fruit bouquet
• On the palate, this wine is very well balanced, round, supple; it is characterized by the qualities inherent in the tannins typical of the South-West, sufficiently present without being too imposing.
• To be enjoyed at 18°C with white or red meats, South-West cuisine or more appropriately with spicy dishes. It is the ideal accompaniment to lacquered duck or rib steak with candied onions.
